LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care

As a queer owned and queer and gender diverse staffed practice, our team understands the struggles you may be facing. We all face the same challenges as our cisgender and heterosexual counterparts - anxiety, depression, stress and self worth. However, LGBTQIA+ folks deal with additional issues, such as dysphoria, feeling "othered" (even in our own community) and exhausted by systemic barriers, which prevent us from having equal rights. We are very knowledgeable about our community, so you will never need to spend time educating us on affirmation surgery, how queer sex looks, or what a packer is. Let's spend that time talking about things we enjoy, building a rapport and focusing on your goals!

See who you feel might be a good fit for your needs on our Meet The Team page.

A Bit About Therapy

We believe that psychotherapy can help us to figure out how to fix things in a new way when we realize what we're currently doing isn't doing. These skills help us get out of our heads, which is what often causes us to feel crappy. If we can reframe the way we think about the world and even ourselves,  this can be transformative on our mood, motivation, relationships and much more leading us to success in our daily lives.

If you're interested in exploring your own transformation, contact us for a free consultation today!

Land Acknowledgment

As a practice rooted in supporting marginalized communities, Heads Held High Counseling acknowledges that the homes from which we work remotely are located on the traditional lands of the Massachusett, Pawtucket, Wamoanoag, Nauset, Agawam, Nipmuc, Peannacook, Wabanaki, Nipmuc, Pocumtuc and Mohican in Massachusetts and the Potawatomi, Myaamia, Kasaskia, Ochethi Sakowin, Kickapoo and Peoria in Chicago. This land has been cared for by Indigenous peoples for generations, and we honor their enduring legacy.

We recognize the profound harm caused by colonization and the ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous peoples. We are committed to advocating for social justice, amplifying Indigenous voices, and working toward a future that respects and uplifts Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

We invite our clients and community to join us in learning about the history of the land we occupy and supporting Indigenous organizations and causes.
