A Little About Brenn
Brenn (she/her) is a queer first-generation Haitian-American raised in Houston, Tx who utilizes compassion, humor, curiosity, connection, and clinical expertise to foster a supportive therapeutic space for her clients. Honoring her Haitian roots that originated in West Africa, Brenn’s therapeutic practice is guided by the doctrine of Sankofa , which translates to “go back into the past and reclaim what has been forgotten or left behind in order to move forward in the present and future.” She believes therapy as an opportunity for individuals to discover and examine patterns of behavior and beliefs we all carry so that we understand why and how we came to be who we are today. While valuing those lessons, the therapeutic journey also creates the opportunity to mend and/or strengthen one’s relationship to their wisdom, intuition, and body as they let go of what longer supports them and are empowered to make intentional choices that meet their goals.
Brenn attained her Masters at Lesley University in Expressive Arts Therapy and her certification in Ecopsychology and Ecotherapy from Pacifica University, which permits her to practice a discipline called Nature-Based Expressive Arts Therapy. She integrates a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including earth-based practices, creative arts modalities, and somatic work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Relational Theory, Trauma-Informed Care, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Relational-Cultural Theory, Strength-Based Approaches, and Psychoeducation to build one’s capacity to attain clarity, healing, liberation, and well-being.
Brenn has several years of experience of providing dedicated care for a range of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, religious trauma, marginalization stress, personality issues, facing depression, anxiety, stress management, ADHD, chronic illness, low self-esteem, sexual trauma, academic trauma, family estrangement, and various life transitions. She enjoys creating affirming and empowering spaces for adolescents and adults, especially marginalized communities like LGBTQ+ community, dynamically disabled communities, and BIPOC. She is committed to seeing individuals through the lens of their intersectionality and providing culturally competent care.
In her free time, Brenn enjoys reading, bird watching, watching movies, singing, learning about nature, poetry, playing board games, resting, puns, kayaking, playing her guitar and ukulele, writing, fiber arts, collaging, and finding inspiration and joy in all forms of creative expression.
