CBT For The Anxiety and Depression In Me

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

As therapy becomes more popular in popular in our society, you may hear different acronyms - CBT, DBT, EMDR, and so on. So what is CBT? What does it stand for? How can it help you?

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It focuses on being more aware of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that we have that often lead us to unhealthy thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Some may include depression, anxiety, substance use/abuse, irritability, interpersonal conflict, and much more. Research has shown that this modality can help address all of these issues. I have found through my practice that it is especially helpful in those that experience depressive or anxious thoughts. Though CBT, we can work to make you more aware of when your thoughts, feelings and behaviors may begin to turn sour. We can then identify how to make them more positive, as to achieve a more positive outcome.

I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be moving. My clients have told me that they appreciate the increased awareness they get from therapy with me and enjoy our sessions. They often find they are able to make positive changes in a shorter time than they may have anticipated through this modality. I have been able to witness people make tremendous changes in their lives because of the work they have done with me in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. If you would like to discuss more about how you may be able to get support for depression or anxiety through CBT, please contact me!
